LITTLE KNOWN FACTS

These RARE Paper Negative Prints are the original contact Negatives for the original Strips as drawn by Charles M. Schulz, all dating back to his classic period; 1968, 1969 and 1970.

After the completion of each Peanuts Strip, Paper Negative Prints were made, and with these Negatives they made Positive Photostats which were distributed to Newspapers throughout the World.

The first Paper Negative process was actually created by William Talbot back in the 1830's. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC had an exhibit of Talbot's Negative Prints "Impressed by Light: British Photographs from Paper Negatives, 1840-1860"

"There is nothing quite like the earliest stages, when the paper negative itself took on a look and feel that made the 19th century photography community want to exhibit the negatives themselves--and they often did."

In 1973 Charles Schulz (Creative Associates) sent the following Negative Prints to Gene Persson, co-producer of the hit musical YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN, to be used as source material for the development of a new PEANUTS stage musical.

SNOOPY! THE MUSICAL premiered on December 9, 1975 at the Little Fox Theatre in San Francisco, California.
